Roofing Industry Veteran Joins ONTILITY

ONTILITY announces the establishment of its newest division, Solar PV Roofing. Heading the new venture is Gary Bauer who has been appointed Director of the Solar PV Roofing Division.

Application of solar PV systems on commercial buildings is one of the hottest segments of the rapidly expanding solar industry. Many of these buildings take advantage of the latest in advanced roofing technologies to improve building efficiency and reduce cost. Designing and installing solar PV systems on these modern roofs requires specialized knowledge and skills. To meet the demands of this expanding market, ONTILITY has established its Solar PV Roofing Division headed by long-time roofing and solar veteran Gary Bauer.

With more than 30 years of experience in the roofing, solar and construction industries, Gary has designed and managed hundreds of commercial and residential solar roof projects totaling more than 19MW (megawatts) of production capacity. His pioneering efforts on the first installation of a solar "mat" product for solar thin film installation on flat roofs helped revolutionize the application of solar PV systems on commercial buildings.

Gary also has extensive experience testing solar roofing and building-integrated PV products. His testing and monitoring experience includes third party high velocity wind tests, roof coatings adhesion on modified bitumen roofs using butyl tapes and a wide variety of rack-mount products for projects requiring a framed PV module solution. Gary has worked closely with many major roofing manufacturers on their different roof substrates such as TPO, EPDM, and Modified Bitumen, along with tape manufacturers.
