Solar Thermal Systems Overview

Solar thermal systems are designed to harness the sun's energy and convert it to thermal energy, also known as 'heat'. There are three levels of solar thermal collections: low-temperature collectors are generally flat panels intended for heating water systems (e.g., hot or warm water used in a building or home, or heating a swimming pool; medium-temperature collectors are generally flat panels intended for heating water for commercial, hospitality / resorts, or large residential complexes; hot-temperature collectors are generally mirrors or lenses designed to concentrate the sunlight and are capable of reaching extremely high temperatures. Hot-temperature collectors are generally designed for direct electricity generation and are used by utilities or larger industrial facilities.
